The brief descriptions below are designed to familiarize you with our staff’s training, professional credentials, and work experience.

David M. Colannino, D.P.M., FACFAS

Dr. Colannino is board-certified in foot surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery, a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and a Member of the American Podiatric Medical Association. He is a teaching clinical instructor and the past Chief of the Podiatry Division at Roger Williams Medical Center.

Dr. Colannino has operating privileges at Roger Williams Medical Center, Miriam Hospital, and Blackstone Valley Surgicare.

His first-rate training includes Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia and residency at Metropolitan Hospital and Bryn Mawr Hospital in the foot and ankle surgery.

Dominic J. Roda, D.P.M., FACFAS, CWS

Dr. Roda is an honors graduate of the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his residency training at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence, RI. He is a New England native who is happy to be providing care in the areas he grew up in.

Dr. Roda is board certified by the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He enjoys treating all conditions of the foot from deformity and trauma to common skin and nail conditions. He is a member of the Rhode Island Podiatric Medical Association and the American Podiatric Medical Association and is published in their journal and other medical literature. Dr. Roda has a special interest in wound care, and is a Certified Wound Specialist by the American Board of Wound Management. Dr. Roda believes that every patient deserves to be treated like a family member and he applies that philosophy to every patient in his care.

Dr. Roda has surgical privileges at Roger Williams Hospital, Fatima Hospital, and Blackstone Valley Surgery Center in Johnston. He is also on staff with the Comprehensive Wound Healing Center at Fatima Hospital. He looks forward to meeting you and taking care of all your foot care needs.

Dr. Battey

Michael A. Battey, D.P.M., FACFAS

Dr. Battey has been in private practice locally since 1980, and was instrumental in founding a large multi-office podiatric practice. Dr. Battey and Dr. Colannino worked together for over fifteen years, recently leading the Division of Podiatry at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence. Dr. Battey, the first podiatrist in Rhode Island to become Certified in Foot and Ankle Surgery, and an Assistant Professor in Medical Science at the Alpert Medical School, Brown University was a pioneer in podiatric residency education. He developed and led the first podiatric hospital residency in surgery in 1983, directing it in multiple RI hospitals until 2019.

Throughout his career, Dr. Battey has been a leader in the podiatric profession. Locally, he has served as Chair of the Podiatric Licensing and Discipline Board at the RI Dept of Health, and as President of the Rhode Island Podiatric Medical Association. Nationally, he has served the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, the Council of Podiatric Medical Education and the Council of Teaching Hospitals. Dr. Battey has chaired inspection visits to over fifty hospitals nationwide assessing podiatric surgical residency training. Additionally, he has authored chapters in multiple podiatric medical and surgical textbooks.

Dr. Battey is available to see patients in the Smithfield office on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
