Laser Therapy

We are excited to be the only practice in RI offering this state of the art treatment modality. The class IV K Laser is the most powerful laser on the market delivering more energy in a shorter peroid of time than any other laser treatment. During each painless treament, laser energy increases circulation and creates an optimal healing environment that reduces inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness, and pain. As the injured area returns to normal, function is restored and pain is relieved.

Laser Therapy is used as an adjunct to traditional therapies. While this new and innovative therapy is proven to speed your recovery, it is not a replacement for traditional treatments that may have been recommended by your doctor. For the best results, you should continue to follow all of the treatment recommendations.

You may feel improvement in your condition after the first treatment. Sometimes you will not feel improvement for a number of treatments. This does not mean nothing is happening. Laser therapy has a cumulative effect on the area being treated. Certain more chronic conditions may require greater than 6 treatments. Following through with our full course of treatments is necessary to obtain the best results.

What is Laser Therapy?

Laser Therapy, or “photomodulation”, is the use of specific wavelengths of light to create therapeutic effects. These effects include improved healing time, pain reduction, increased circulation, and decreased swelling. Laser Therapy has been widely utilized by physicians in Europe as far back as the 1970’s. Now after FDA clearance in 2002, laser therapy is being used extensively in the United States.

What are the patient Benefits of Laser Therapy?

Laser Therapy is proven to biostimulate tissue repair and growth. The laser accelerates wound healing and decreases inflammation, pain, and scar tissue formation. In the management of chronic pain, class IV Laser Therapy can provide dramatic results, is non-adictive and virtually free of side effects.

What are the cellular effects of Laser Therapy?

During treatment, the infrared laser light interacts with tissues at the cellular level increasing normal metabolic activity. This increase in activity improves the transport of nutrients across the cell membrane and initiates the production of cellular enerty (ATP) that leads to a cascade of beneficial effects. The overall effect increases normal cellular function and health which leads to faster healing and improved function.

Why is K-Laser different from other lasers?

K-Laser is leading the way in pain management, tissue repair, safe treatments, and fast treatment times. The class IV K-Laser is on the cutting edge of therapeutic lasers, and the only laser to use 4 different wavelengths of light, each specifically targeted to different aspects of healing. The class IV K-Laser is also the most powerful laser, delivering more energy in shorter treatment times.
